FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. If I do not clear the eligibility criteria in academic qualifications, however have a strong recommendation from my General Manager and Corporate Head, can my application be considered?
The eligibility criteria are put in place to bring parity and fairness in the selection process and must be followed.
  2. Are offline applications also allowed?
No. The online platform is the only medium for submitting applications.
  3. Is it allowed to re-apply a second time, if the application does not get shortlisted in the previous attempt?
Applicants are welcome to apply for the next intake as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
  4. What happens if EHL does not select any of the final candidate(s) selected by the initial interview panel (for either one or both Scholarship programmes)?
This is highly unlikely as the final candidates will be the very best young hoteliers. However, if this very unlikely event were to occur, the scholarship(s) will not be awarded in that particular year.
  5. If the selected candidate(s) underperforms in the 2 years of executive posting, what will the outcome be?
In this unlikely situation, all support and mentorship will be provided to begin with. However, if performance remains below expectation, the scholarship will stand cancelled. Furthermore, the applicant will not be eligible to apply for either of the scholarships in the following years.
  6. Will a MOU/Bond need to be signed between the candidates and The Oberoi Group?
Yes. A training agreement will need to be signed covering the financial and employment aspects related to the scholarship by both candidates. The Oberoi Group candidate will further need to sign a bond for continuity within the company for two years.
  7. Is there any recommendation for other hotel companies to have an agreement with the applicant for the Rai Bahadur 'Dare to Dream' scholarship, requiring her/him to work in the company for at least 2 years after completing the scholarship programme?
Though we recommend that other hotel companies to also have an Agreement signed between the applicant and the company, it is entirely the prerogative of the company to take a decision on this.
  8. For the 'Dare to Dream' scholarship, after successful completion of the Masters Programme from EHL, can the awardee apply to and join The Oberoi Group?
The Oberoi Group will not consider any awardee for employment for at least 2 years after course completion. We recommend the individual continue with the hotel company she/he is with.
  9. What if, after being selected and starting the scholarship programme, the candidate is unable to complete the EHL course, due to any of the following reasons:
Underperformance: The recipient will be withdrawn from the scholarship programme.
Family/Personal/Medical issues: Decision will be taken based on the severity of the situation.
Better job offers: Should the recipient pursue another job offer, their name will be withdrawn from the scholarship programme. The candidate will also need to pay the EHL course fee and any other expenses incurred as part of the scholarship programme on a pro rata basis.
Violation of code of conduct/ any unethical practice: Should such an incident be highlighted, based on the detailed incident report, further action will be decided. This may include revoking the scholarship and payment of the EHL course fee and any other expenses incurred as part of the scholarship programme on a pro rata basis.
  10. What if we do not receive any nominations for the Rai Bahadur 'Dare to Dream' sponsorship? Do we open the nominations to applicants of The Oberoi Group?
No. This scholarship is exclusively designed for hotel operations employees from hotels other than The Oberoi Group. Internal candidates of The Oberoi Group will not be considered for the Rai Bahadur 'Dare to Dream' scholarship.
  11. After completing the scholarship programme, what if an applicant wishes to pursue a career with another company?
After completing the scholarship programmes, The Oberoi Group would like the awardee to work with their parent company for at least two years. If the awardee decides to pursue a career with another company prior to completing the two-year period, she/he will need to pay the fee spent on the EHL course as well as the amount spent on the Best Practices Tour.
  12. In case the applicant's candidature is shortlisted by EHL, but not shortlisted by The Oberoi Group post the final interview round, can the applicant apply directly to EHL for the MBA Programme in question?
If the applicant wishes to pursue the course with EHL, it would be based upon the Terms and Conditions laid down by EHL. The applicant would be fully responsible for bearing all financial implications and/or coordinating any other arrangements as required.
  13. What would be the Terms and Conditions related to the MBA programme from EHL Hospitality Business School and will they apply to The Oberoi Group Scholarship Programme applicant?
The Terms and Conditions related to the MBA programme from EHL Hospitality Business School can be viewed through the link FAQ MBA.pdf (ehl.edu). They would be fully applicable to the Scholarship Programme applicant and would be governed by the EHL Administrative Body.
